Our new name – ‘DBI Partners UK’ – emphasises the relationship we have with DBI.

Robert first travelled to India in 1947, shortly after Indian Independence, at a time when most expatriates were leaving India. His sole purpose was to share the hope of Jesus Christ. He and his wife – Ilse -settled in Delhi and in 1954 they began a local church in a rented shop in Jor Bagh Market. They also started Delhi Bible Institute to promote the reading, study and teaching of the Bible, originally through correspondence courses. Part of the work involved publishing Christian literature.

Generous donations meant that in 1966 a plot of land could be purchased where “Bible Bhavan” (“House of the Bible”) was built. The building still is DBI’s headquarters and also provides premises for the local church “Bible Bhavan Christian Fellowship”.

DBI Partners UK seeks to:

  1. Consistently promote the work of DBI
  2. Generously support the work of DBI
  3. Carefully resource the work of DBI
  4. Honestly counsel the leaders of DBI

Our current Trustees oversee the continuing work of the Trust, which includes channelling funds to DBI, sending out DBI prayer news, and generally encouraging support for DBI.

Our sister organisation in the USA is DBI Partnership Inc.
